 Both come and go, and show their effect.
 But when one’s destiny is affected. 
One suffers damage to the eye, house, machinery, And evil effects of enmity and snake bite. Deception, deceit, depression and disease.

The air locked in a man’s palm and spread over the open sky with capacity to move both the Worlds and the Universe; and also move within and outside a man is called ‘Jupiter’. In its closed form, it conceals the secrets of destiny bestowed by nature. In its open form, it reveals treasures of previous birth. It is the cause of birth and death of a man. Jupiter is the Lord of both the Worlds and also the Master of all other planets. Jupiter determines noble relationships with friends and relatives, earnings, comforts from sons and parents, respect in the world, religiosity, happiness/misery in everyday life and comfort from/to spouse. Due to Jupiter, one earns with his wisdom, one gets power of royalty, intellectual strength and lotteries etc. It is effective in the ‘intermediate stage’. To start with, it gives results of Ketu, the intermediate stage is of its own and the latter part is of Sun. Jupiter does not have animus for any other planet. In its own houses or even in enemy houses, it gives benefic results for 8 years. Enemy/evil planets in Jupiter’s houses, (excepting H.No. 2) give malefic results. While Jupiter has enmity for none, Mercury and Venus do have animosity for Jupiter but the net result is their own destruction. With Saturn, Rahu and Ketu, Jupiter is like melted gold, whose ‘doub table position’ can be exploited. Remedies of evil and Mercury are helpful.

Thus, while posited in a house, Jupiter is capable of giving both types of extreme results depending on its orientation – benefic or malefic. It can make a man like a King or a beggar, gold or brass, a great philanthropist or a thief (a saint without qualms of conscience). Malefic effects of Jupiter are reflected through items of Saturn and its own benefic effects are reflected through Jupiterean articles, works and relationships themselves.

Jupiter is a first rate benefic planet. It is the lord of 9th and 12th houses and is a significator of position; and if conjoined with other planets or has any relationship with them by occupying their star sign etc., one can make a judicious choice and cultivate habits, concentrate, meditate and pray. When Jupiter and Venus conjoin or aspect each other, prosperity is the result. Jupiter is for the upliftment of the soul, one leads spiritual life without much attachment to domestic life. Its thrust is towards the other world. Jupiter governs power. Its direction is North-East.

Benefic Jupiter – When Jupiter is benefic, it bestows on the native geniality and generosity,joy,jubilation and joviality. One can expect respect and a good reputation during its period. Cooperation and congenial atmosphere, progress and prosperity in life, philosophic and philanthropic conduct and morals, peace, health and wealth, all are bestowed by benefic Jupiter.

Malefic Jupiter – If Jupiter is afflicted (by adverse company/ aspect) or is in malefic houses, the native will not be moderate but an extremist. He will be very liberal, extravagant and even lavish. Over optimism, false hopes, carelessness, debts, disputes and failure in speculation, desperation, gambling and pressure from creditors, anxiety on account of children, false prestige, large donations beyond normal capacity, vain pomp, loss in reliance on others and standing surety for them, cheap popularity, default and infamy, extravagance, gluttony, unusual girth, misjudgment and miscalculations – are all attributed to malefic Jupiter.
